Maternity: Darneshia & Justin
It had been quite a few years since I made a voluntary overnight trip to North Louisiana. Don't get me wrong, there are some awesome things about the state and that region, but being such a die-hard city boy (insert laughs from my college friends here) that I haven't made too many efforts to go back and visit. When my best friend's sister found out she was pregnant and shortly after asked could I come to Haynesville, Louisiana to capture her maternity portraits, I knew my time for a visit had come. I met Darneshia in college when she came one Summer to take some classes while she was in high school. She naturally became like a little sister to me, so I've been psuedo-looking out for her ever since. I can't believe she's about to be a mother...of twins at that! It's amazing to see her family be so proud, happy, and excited along the way. Her oldest brother Daytheon gushes about it more than she does I believe. It was time for a session in this small country town that I fell in love, just from the Friday evening drive into it.
The rolling hills, the purple wisteria lined roads, fresh air...I completely forgot how good it felt getting out of the city. Daytheon & Darneshia's parents, opened up their home for the weekend to me. We stepped foot in the door to some great home cooking hot, ready, and waiting! The entire time I felt like I was apart of the family and not there to do work, that's how you know you're in a good place.
Our shoot took place early Saturday morning. Daytheon and I did some location scouting and found some good spots, but the gem of them all actually came from his 7th grade teacher Mrs. Haynes. She and her husband lent their property and very well kept 1958 Chevy truck to use. Yes, there are good people everywhere, but it's just something about the authenticity of small town people. It just came together beautifully. Justin and Darneshia mentioned their concerns before getting started, but I know as long as they had fun, we would be good to go. With the perfect weather, great locations, tons of jokes and laughter from their younger brother Dantae, we had a blast and captured them pretty well.
Enough of me and my ramblings, take a look and enjoy...
